STARBUCK, WA, Aug. 13, 2015 (Local News) -Columbia Pulp LLC hasn't broken ground yet on its 449-acre pulp mill near Lyons Ferry, but "exciting movement" continues to happen behind closed doors, according to Columbia County Planning Director Kim Lyonnais.
The company began receiving wheat straw for storage on Monday of this week, board member and LLC manager John Begley told The Times. Columbia Pulp has leased space within two miles of the future site of the mill for the storage of 20,000 to 30,000 tons of straw.Read more
MADRID, Spain, July 16, 2015 (Press Release) -ENCE just started Navia Mill after 19 days of maintenance stop, implementing a capacity increase of 40,000 tons/year, along with an enhance of efficiency.
Additionally, ENCE has implemented a package of environmental improvements, mainly intended to continue minimizing the odor impact of the factory.
This is the more substantial annual maintenance stop in the last six years, which involved a difficult ramp up, with tensions in stocks, but already in the process of normalization.
VIENNA, Austria, May 27, 2015 (Press Release) - Mondi has today confirmed with its Mondi Lohja employees that it will permanently shut this mill in Finland, following the conclusion of the consultation period with the mill's employee representatives.
The reason for the shutdown is Mondi Lohja's long term lack of profitability, despite several efforts to reduce the plant's substantial losses over recent years.
BRUSSELS, March 25, 2015 (RISI) - Metsä Board plans to cut up to 200 jobs at its Husum mill in Sweden in connection to the factory's transition out of paper production and into packaging. The firm will negotiate this with employee representatives.
The plan concerns 150 blue-collar positions and 50 white-collar positions, according to a company spokesperson. The Husum mill currently employs around 850 people, including those working for customer service on the paper side.Read more
