GRAZ, Austria, July 15, 2014 (Press Release) - ANDRITZ AUTOMATION, part of international technology group ANDRITZ, has successfully concluded complete modernization of the process control system for a steam boiler at the Hamburger Containerboard mill in Pitten, Austria.
BRUSSELS, July 14, 2014 (RISI) - Russia's newsprint giant Kondopoga has stopped all its paper machines following a planned maintenance period at its gas supplier Gazprom. The mill will be out of production until July 17, Kondopoga said.
The firm said that it plans to do some maintenance work on its equipment during that period, too.
Kondopoga can produce up to 760,000 tonnes/yr of newsprint and 16,000 tonnes/yr of kraft paper on its seven PMs.Read more
ESPOO, Finland, July 3, 2014 (Press Release) -Metsä Fibre's Joutseno mill in Finland was restarted at the beginning of July after an annual maintenance shutdown of more than three weeks. The shutdown's exceptional length was due to extensive upgrades that were geared towards improving the mill's environmental performance.
During the shutdown, the base and air system of the recovery boiler were replaced. This will improve the boiler's combustion management and, therefore, will lead to a reduction in NOx emissions (nitrogen oxides).Read more
Valmet is investing in roll cover manufacturing capacity at its service center in Laem Chabang, Thailand. The investment will double Valmet's composite roll cover production capacity in the Asia-Pacific region. Production of Valmet's newest polyurethane products will begin by the end of June 2014.
SINGAPORE, June 20, 2014 (RISI) - Asia Pacific Resources International extended the maintenance downtime on the 1.8 million tonne/yr bleached hardwood kraft (BHK) pulp line at its Rizhao complex in Shandong province, China, from one week to 17 days.
The line was shut on May 21, with seven days out of action being the firm's initial plan.
It decided to take more days off to carry out thorough maintenance on the line, and also partly due to soft demand in the domestic market.Read more
