OAKLAND, CA, 24 July 2015 (PPI Pulp & Paper Week) - In possibly its deepest quarterly price drop in years, Kimberly-Clark' (K-C) reported a 4% decline in its consumer tissue prices in North America in the second quarter, vs second quarter 2014's average.
Even with the 4% price decline, the company reported that consumer tissue sales were flat and volume actually increased 5%.Read more

Hayat Kimya's new Advantage DCT 200TS tissue line, PM5, was started up in March 2015 by a joint Valmet and Hayat Kimya team. The new line, at the Mersin mill in Turkey, came smoothly on stream according to schedule and produced sellable paper from the very start.
This was the second start-up for the same team in three months, as Hayat Kimya's PM4 at the new Alabuga mill in Tartarstan, Russia was started up in December 2014. The time schedule was very tight but the paper was on reel as expected with good paper properties.Read more
Russia's Arkhbum Tissue Group, managed by Arkhangelsk pulp and paper mill (APPM), is forging ahead with its plans to install a new tissue mill in Vorsino, in the Kaluga region, some 90 km southwest of Moscow. The firm has finalized the suppliers of all equipment and machinery for the plant. Arkhbum has signed up Andritz to deliver the 200 tonne/day tissue machine, which will use 100% virgin pulp, as well as cogeneration equipment.
Argentinean pulp and paper producer Celulosa Argentina started up its new 30,000 tonnes/yr tissue paper machine on 25 April at its Capitán Bermúdez mill, located in Santa Fe province.
The Euro 18 million ($25 million) investment will allow Celulosa Argentina to enter the tissue market and thus diversify its current portfolio. The company produces 142,000 tonnes/yr of coated woodfree (CWF) paper, 45,000 tonnes/yr of uncoated woodfree (UWF) paper and 20,000 tonnes/yr of kraft papers, as well as 90,000 tonnes/yr of bleached eucalyptus kraft (BEK) pulp.Read more
The Toscotec-supplied AHEAD-2.0 tissue machine at Fortissue S.A., the new productive division of Suavecel S.A based in Viana do Castelo, in the coastal and delta region of Rio Lima about 75 km north of Porto, was successfully started up in early April 2015. The machine came easily on stream after the commissioning period and is now producing high quality tissue products according to the guaranteed technological parameters.Read more
BRUSSELS, 26 February 2015 (PPI Europe) - Tissue production is up and running again at the former Celulosas de Hernani in northern Spain.
The new owner of the company, Cominter, confirmed reports according to which one of the two tissue machines at the site, now called Cominter Tisú, resumed production in late January. The restart of the second tissue line is scheduled for the end of the year.Read more
BRUSSELS, 4 March 2015 (RISI) - A fire broke out on the morning of February 27 at SCA Hygiene Products' Oakenholt tissue mill in north Wales. The mill and surrounding area were temporarily evacuated and production was suspended for six hours.
According to the firm, the blaze started near a wall next to the PM 2 rewinder, before being quickly extinguished. "There was no structural damage caused to the machinery, roof space or any other parts of the building," said mill manager George Placogiannakis.

As of March 1, 2015 WEPA Group takes over the plant in Troyes and the consumer business related to the products manufactured in the same plant.
