HELSINKI, March 28, 2011 (Press Release) -Metso's DNAmachineAssesor for mechanical condition monitoring is an integrated part of metsoDNA CR process control system. Now this vibration based condition monitoring for rotating machinery is available for tissue machines.

Sharing the same platform with metsoDNA CR makes available the same information applications and engineering tools as used for process, machine, drives and quality controls. The one user interface for operation, trending and alarm handling plus a common history database for reports and analysis makes the system easier to implement and to use.

Thanks to on-line monitoring, tissue makers can now secure their production, avoid unplanned shut downs and reduce lost production due to machine faults. Machinery repairs, when needed, can be planned in advance with the right parts, tools and resources in place. Trouble shooting is improved by analyzing on-line measurements and a remote connection to the machine supplier means quick advice of problem severity and recommended corrective actions. On-line monitoring also eliminates the safety risks of manual inspections during process run.

The vibration monitoring of rolls and gearboxes including the Yankee, press roll and pope reel, as well as the hood ventilation, can detect developing defects at an early stage and avoid severe machine failures.

Lubrication monitoring gives advance warning of lubrication problems to avoid damage.
