LECCO, Italy, June 24, 2013 (Press Release) -To complete a range of rich and innovative machines, OMET has decided to launch a new tissue converting line for the production of folded napkins. The machine, based on vacuum-fold technology, is juxtaposed to traditional mechanical folding machines.

The line, called FV, while exploiting a known technology, offers superior performance with regard to the electronic on-board equipment and management of the production process.

The machine, in fact, that is 4.70 meters high, and is protected by a cabin which increases safety and prevents the operator from touching any hazardous part, is fully controllable from the operator panel on which it is possible to set the size of the towel to produce, the production speed and the type of fold: 1/4, 1/8 or dispenser napkins fold 1/8. Maintenance is simple and involves a very limited direct intervention of the operator.

The FV Line is a modular machine with different groups in combination (embossing, folding, printing, etc.). It offers customers extensive customization options to suit their present needs or manage different needs arose over time. The machine can be configured to process inline a mother paper roll with width of 1200 mm or two rolls of 600 mm placed side by side.

The first FV Line, in debut during IT's Tissue event, is equipped with a servomotor for each folding cylinder and servomotors controlling the vacuum valves. The machine is fully gearless. The final group that prepares the napkins for the packaging machine is configured with star wheels to ensure perfect stacking of the product, even at high speeds. The stacker placed under the star wheels includes an automatic waste disposal system which prevents the operator from intervening on the machine in person.

The FV Line has been created to satisfy the market for medium and large runs of white embossed napkins ‘with napkin dispenser fold', i.e. those napkins that fit into the dispenser on the bar counter or in fast food chains and whose fold facilitates the gesture of taking the napkin. This type of napkin is typical of the American market but its use is spreading rapidly throughout Europe. Upon request, the FV Line can be combined with optional multiple printing stations.

The machine can produce napkins in sizes 20x20 cm to 30x30 cm and can be coupled with packaging machines of various types. The maximum speed that the FV can reach is of 300 meters per minute for a production of 4/6000 napkins a minute. The aspects related to the job changeovers are particularly taken care of since the machine needs to be quick and easy to perform. "Compared to 50 minutes spent on the standard exchange format with the other machines, FV Line runs the job change in 2 minutes!", states Roberto Perego, Technical Manager at the Tissue converting machines Division of OMET. "The FV Line has been designed and prepared with the greatest accuracy to be ready to debut during the week of IT's Tissue (June 23-30, 2013). The fact of having a new building dedicated to the Tissue Division (after the transfer to Via Caduti a Fossoli in Lecco), equipped with advanced instruments, has made the job infinitely easier," concludes Perego with pride.
