ELMWOOD PARK, NJ, Dec. 4, 2012 (The Record) -A new company hopes to change the fortunes of the former Marcal Paper Mill with help from the state.

Soundview Paper Company purchased Marcal in April, as the tissue and paper products manufacturer was on its last legs.

The state sweetened the deal with a $25 million Grow New Jersey loan that kept the mill and its approximately 500 workers afloat. Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno toured the plant Tuesday to see the results of the aid.
