LONGVIEW, WA, April 26, 2011 (Longview Daily News) -Miraculously, no one was hurt when a cargo ship slammed into the Georgia-Pacific Wauna mill's dock Friday - but things might have turned out differently if the accident hadn't happened during a shift change, a mill official said Saturday.

Several employees at the paper mill 11 miles west of Clatskanie, Ore., heard the 440-foot Susaki Wing blast its fog horn before it smashed into the dock, a barge loaded with paper products and a large metal building at 5:53 p.m. Friday, said Kristi Ward, the mill's public affairs manager.

"People were able to go out and see what was happening," she said. "We're grateful that no one was injured in the event."
