Potosí’s new 25,000 tonnes/yr tissue PM begins production in Mexico

SAO PAULO,(RISI) - Mexican Fábricas de Papel Potosí has started up a new 25,000 tonnes/yr tissue paper machine (PM) at its mill located in San Luis Potosí, north-central Mexico. The equipment was supplied by A.Celli and has a width of 2,800 mm.

"The machine has a working speed of 1,500 m/min and is conceived to answer the customer's demands in order to guarantee an increase in production levels, assured by optimal performance and paper quality, with consequent improvement of the finished product," A.Celli explained.

Potosí's paper mill has a further two tissue paper machines, which together make 18,500 tonnes/yr of napkin and toilet paper. According to a source, the company has idled its 8,500 tonnes/yr PM No. 2 and has plans to rebuild its 10,000 tonnes/yr PM No. 1.

The Mexican company has been operating for over 30 years, manufacturing and converting tissue paper made of recycled domestic fiber. Its portfolio includes toilet rolls, white table napkins, printed table napkins (used for advertising and promotion), stationery and spunlace.
