Argentinean pulp and paper producer Celulosa Argentina started up its new 30,000 tonnes/yr tissue paper machine on 25 April at its Capitán Bermúdez mill, located in Santa Fe province.

The Euro 18 million ($25 million) investment will allow Celulosa Argentina to enter the tissue market and thus diversify its current portfolio. The company produces 142,000 tonnes/yr of coated woodfree (CWF) paper, 45,000 tonnes/yr of uncoated woodfree (UWF) paper and 20,000 tonnes/yr of kraft papers, as well as 90,000 tonnes/yr of bleached eucalyptus kraft (BEK) pulp.

As detailed by Voith, the new tissue line has a wire width of 2,760 mm and runs at 1,800 m/min, producing 15-21 g/m² basis weight toilet tissue and kitchen roll from virgin fiber.

Celulosa Argentina has two mills in Argentina (Capitán Bermúdez and Zárate) and one mill in Uruguay (named Fanapel).
