BRUSSELS, March 26, 2015 (RISI) - Grigiskes will close down the two oldest tissue machines at its Vilnius mill in Lithuania in the second quarter, following the recent start-up of the new Toscotec-supplied 110 tonne/day tissue PM 6, a company spokesperson said.
The two machines, PMs 2 and 3, were installed in the 1960s and have a capacity of some 4,000 tonnes/yr of tissue each.
The Vilnius mill also houses the 17,000 tonne/yr tissue PM 5, installed in 2007, which will remain online.
The employees working on PMs 2 and 3 will be trained and transferred to other production lines in Grigiskes, since production has been expanding strongly recently, the spokesperson said. The firm has already hired 17 more people to work on PM 6. In total, there are 157 employees working in manufacturing at the Vilnius mill, or 198 including technical support, according to the spokesperson.
