HEIDENHEIM, Germany, Nov. 19, 2010 (Press Release) -At the Tissue World conference and exhibition in Asia taking place November 17-19, 2010, Voith Paper introduces its latest sensor innovation for tissue production: Voith LSC TecoSens. This sensor provides simultaneous online measurement of fiber weight and moisture based on an infrared spectroscopic measurement.

Fiber weight and moisture measurement can be done with just one sensor and without the need of radioactive sources. With the absence of radioactivity there is no need for special training of the service and maintenance staff. It also eliminates the health risk of working next to the radioactive sources. Furthermore, it creates no need to replace the sensor from time to time due to the limited life time of the radioactive source.

The sensor is based on the proven Voith LSC infrared moisture sensor and measures the absorption of infrared light at four characteristic wavelengths. In combination with optimized optics and sophisticated algorithms the sensor provides superior signal to noise ratio and sensitivity.

The sensor is only available in combination with the Voith LSC TecoScan measurement system. Due to its robust design the scanner provides high availability and low maintenance costs. Therefore, Voith LSC TecoScan offers a manageable investment for a new quality control system as well as the lowest total cost of ownership in the industry. The scanner is part of the Voith LSC QCS family and can be fully integrated into Voith Paper Automation‘s quality control and distributed control system.
