LUCCA, Italy, Feb. 2, 2012 (Press Release) -Toscotec has extended its reach in Asia thanks to new agency agreements in Japan and South Korea. The first fruit of this cooperation is the order for Japan's first Steel Yankee Dryer.

The Toscotec patented TT SYD 12 FT will be fitted as part of a rebuild on PM 2 at Nishinihon Eizai, a leading producer of tissue based on recycled fiber. The installation is intended to allow an increase in production speed, as well as considerable energy savings - a key issue in Japan.

Nishinihon Eizai was founded in 1963, and is managed by Mr. Yasuhito Goda, who is the third generation of the family to manage the business. The mill is in Tatsuno, near Osaka. It houses six paper machines and produces 2,500 tons per month of toilet roll and tissue towel made from 100% waste paper. Toscotec is confident that Nishinihon Eizai will reduce its energy costs and increase overall production by more than 10%.

Toscotec Asia & Pacific General Manager Marco Dalle Piagge has signed agency agreements with Shinsei Corporation in Japan and Cleantech Corporation in South Korea. Mr Dalle Piagge is based in Shandong, China, in which Toscotec has a significant installed base.

The Japanese market is becoming more interesting by the day, according to Toscotec, because there are fewer than 230 tissue machines operating in the country, most of which are quite old, and require replacement with new technology focused on energy saving. There are also good prospects for the kitchen towel market in the country.

In South Korea, the kitchen towel market has expanded by 40% since 2002. Green label paper and the use of waste paper as raw material are becoming key factors for the hygiene products market in the country.

Successes in South Korea for Toscotec Asia & Pacific include the recent sales of steel Yankees to Mirae Paper Co. Ltd in Jeonu and to Daewang Paper Industry Co. in Gunsan.

Mirae Paper has three paper machines producing a total of some 180 tpd of tissue. Most of the converting activities are carried out by a sister company. Toscotec will install a TT SYD 12 FT on PM 3 with 3130 mm face length and patented insulation system. PM3's speed is expected to increase from 1400 to 1700 mpm. Waste paper will be used as raw material and production is expected to increase from 60 tpd to more than 70 tpd.

Daewang Paper has four tissue paper machines giving a capacity of around 190 tpd. Two of the lines have integrated converting facilities. The TT SYD 12 FT with face length of 3050 mm will be installed on PM1.

Toscotec is confident that with the Steel Yankee Dryers, the new customers investing in these projects will enjoy reduced energy costs and achieve a short pay-back time while seeing an improvement in quality.

Another important market for Toscotec is Thailand, where the company already has some important references.

Toscotec has more than 90 references worldwide for tissue making lines.
