SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 29, 2019 (Fastmarkets RISI) -Canadian total forest products railroad freight fell 36.4% in the week ending Nov. 23, 2019, to 4,621 carloads reflecting a Teamsters strike against CN (Canadian National) that began at midnight Nov. 19, and ended Nov. 26 with a tentative labor agreement.
The strike included 3,200 CN union workers, mainly conductors, which resulted in the rail network running at about 10% of capacity over eight days, the company said.Read more
OAKLAND, CA, Nov. 25, 2019 (Fastmarkets RISI) -North American forest products rail freight was down 2.1% through 46 weeks of 2019 at 769,271 carloads, the Assn of American Railroads reported. In the latest week ending Nov. 16, freight was down 7.1% to 15,379 carloads.

OAKLAND, CA, March 24, 2017 (RISI) -The Assn of American Railroads reported total North American forest products freight in the week ending March 18 at 17,634 carloads was down 3.9% from a year ago, and through 11 weeks at 191,222 carloads was 6% below year-ago levels.
In the week, US forest products volume was off 0.7% to 9,910 carloads, Canada was down 7.9% to 7,697 carloads, and Mexico was up 58.8% to 27 carloads. Through March 18, US forest products freight was down 5% to 108,536 carloads, Canada was down 7.3% to 82,467 carloads, and Mexico was up 6.3% to 219 carloads.Read more
OAKLAND, CA, Oct. 7, 2016 (RISI) -North American total forest products rail freight was down 3.9% from a year ago in the week ending Oct. 1 to 18,470 carloads, theAssn of American Railroadsreported. Volume through 39 weeks of the year was also 3.9% lower to 704,616 carloads.
US forest products freight was down 7.9% in the week and 7.8% lower year-to-date. Canadian volume was up 1.8% in the week and 1.9% higher year to date. Mexico’s volume was up 113% and down 44% respectively, AAR showed.Read more

US forest products freight in the week dropped 15.9% from a year ago, Canada was up 6.5% and Mexico jumped 65%. Year-to-date, US volume was down 7.2%, Canada was up 2.3% and Mexico was 42.5% lower.Read more
