SAO PAULO, Sept. 6, 2013 (RISI) - Brazilian pulp producer Eldorado Brasil has applied to the Brazilian middle west dvelopment fund (FDCO) to raise Real 1.4 billion for the expansion of its 1.3 million tonnes/yr bleached eucalyptus kraft (BEK) pulp mill in Três Lagoas, Mato Grosso do Sul. The funds would be used for the construction of a new 2 million tonnes/yr BEK pulp line, estimated at Real 7 billion and scheduled to start operating in 2017.Read more
SINGAPORE, Sept. 13, 2013 (RISI) - Thailand's SCG Paper has kicked off the construction of a 300,000 tonne/yr recycled containerboard machine at its Banpong mill in Ratchaburi.
Metso Paper will provide the 7.25 m-wide machine, PM 16, which will have a design speed of 1,300 m/min.
Output on the unit will be recycled fluting in the basis weight range of 90-150 g/m².
The Finnish supplier said PM 16 will use a new sizing method providing better strength properties for the finished products.Read more
BRUSSELS, Sept. 3, 2013 (RISI) - Russia's Kondrovo Paper company might soon discontinue production at its 37,000 tonne/yr paper mill in the Kaluga region near Moscow due to financial difficulties. The firm has already started the process of massive layoffs, although it did not say how many people are being let go.
In the meantime, a criminal investigation has been initiated over a possible bankruptcy fraud by Kondrovo's management.Read more

HEIDENHEIM, Germany, Sept. 3, 2013 (Press Release) - A fifth tissue machine has now been ordered by tissue producer Sepac, based in Mallet, Brazil, which signed a contract with Voith in early 2013, just a few months after starting up its PM 4. It is already one of the 10 largest toilet paper producers in South America, but this new machine will enable Sepac to increase its production further, by 35,000 t per year.Read more
SHANGHAI, CHINA, Aug. 30, 2013 (RISI) - China's Liuzhou Liangmianzhen has unveiled plans to build a new tissue paper mill in Liuzhou city, Guangxi province.
The firm's board of directors has approved the scheme, wherein RMB 402.5 million ($65.3 million) will be earmarked to erect two tissue machines with a combined capacity of 80,000 tonnes/yr at the site.
Their output will be made from a mix of bleached bamboo and wood kraft pulp.
A subsidiary, Liuzhou Liangmianzhen Paper, in which the parent firm holds an 84% stake, will carry out the project.Read more
