LONDON, Sept. 27, 2019 (Press Release) -Following an investigation by the Environment Agency (EA), one of the UK’s largest waste management companies - Biffa Waste Services Ltd - has been ordered to pay a total of £599,912 for breaching waste exports regulations.
In June, Biffa was found guilty after a three week trial of sending contaminated household waste, described as waste paper, to China between May and June 2015. Exports of unsorted household recycling waste from the UK to China are banned.Read more

JAKARTA, Indonesia, Sept. 9, 2019 (The Telegraph) -Indonesia has returned 19 containers full of British waste to the UK, according to the customs agency.
The move comes in the wake of a Telegraph investigation that revealed that children in the southeast Asian country are being poisoned by the British household recycling waste that is sent there and burnt on open dumps.
The containers were returned to the UK on the 1st August from Tanjung Perak port after they were imported by paper manufacturing company PT Mega Surya Eratama, according to official documents.Read more

ASHFORD, UK , Aug. 22, 2019 (Press Release) -Ashford Borough Council will be carrying out a contamination campaign to tackle the increase of incorrect items entering the recycling.
During May and June this year, Ashford Borough Council experienced four loads of recycling being rejected at the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) where the recycling is sent to be separated and sorted. This meant these loads were then sent to the Energy from Waste plant in Allington to be incinerated to create energy instead.Read more
