New York lawmakers voted Sunday to bar retailers from giving customers their purchases in single-use plastic bags — and approved fees of up to five cents each if they opt for paper sacks instead.
The plastic-bag ban was contained in one of 10 bills that comprise the state’s proposed $175.5 billion budget, which must be signed by Gov. Cuomo by midnight to meet the deadline for Monday’s start of the 2020 fiscal year.
The legislation is set to go into effect on March 1, 2020.Read more

BIELEFELD, Germany , Feb. 4, 2019 (Press Release) -At the end of 2016, the European Union decided (No. 66 of Annex XVII to Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 ("REACH")) to prohibit the use of Bisphenol A in thermal paper. Although this does not come into force until the beginning of 2020 we have decided to initiate the changeover phase earlier, and are changing to BPA-free products from 1 July 2019.
The aim of this is to ensure that no thermoscript product containing BPA is supplied to the EU market either by us or by our customers after January 2020.Read more
