ESPOO, Finland, Jan. 11, 2020 (Press Release) -A fire broke out late Friday evening 10 January 2020 at PM5 at Metsä Tissue’s Düren mill in Germany. The fire was caused by a short cut at a cable tray at the bottom floor.
The mill’s personnel extinguished the fire before the fire department arrived at the mill. The fire caused no injuries.
Production at the PM5 has been shut down until further notice.

ESPOO, Finland, Dec. 13, 2019 (Press Release) -In October 2019, Metsä Tissue, part of the Metsä Group, announced that it is curtailing its paper production at Krapkowice mill in Poland by temporarily stopping PM6. It has now been decided to close the paper machine permanently.
The annual production capacity of the PM6 was approximately 20,000 tonnes. Headcount implications resulting from the closure of the paper machine will be negotiated according to local legislation.

PORT ANGELES, WA, Nov. 20, 2019 (Peninsula Daily News ) -McKinley Paper Co. is targeting mid-January for beginning production at its 99-year-old Ediz Hook plant with about 100 workers after nearly three years of industrial dormancy at the site and lost revenue for the city of Port Angeles.
