Canadian food manufacturer Lassonde Specialties is making the move to carton packs from SIG Combibloc. From now on, the company's ‘Canton' brand fondue bouillons, traditional ‘canned classics', will be offered exclusively in carton packs. The ready-to-serve bouillons in combiblocStandard 1,100 ml come in Beef/Onion, Original, Oriental Delight, Red Wine and Thai varieties. The company completed the acquisition of Orange County Container Group in December for $340 million, including a recycled containerboard mill in Texas and 10 converting plants in the US and northern Mexico, adding to SKG's existing operations there. LAKELAND, FL, May 1, 2013 (Local News) -Don Merkley, union president at International Paper plant in Lake Wales, said Wednesday he knew the company would shut down the plant once the federal government approved its $4.3 billion merger with competitor Temple-Inland Inc. last year.
Merkley's crystal ball proved correct as International Paper announced Tuesday it would lay off 61 workers by June 19 at the corrugated box plant and put the huge manufacturing and shipping facility on about 50 acres up for sale.Read more
