BRUSSELS, Sept. 19, 2013 (RISI) -Rigid Containers, a unit of the Belgian packaging group VPK, has started up a new box-making plant in Wellington in the south-west of England.

The 200,000 ft² site boats several converting lines, including five box-making lines, featuring a new Bobst Quattro 618 four color casemaker, a three color flat-bed die-cutter and a specialty gluer. Some equipment was bought specifically for the new site, while some machines were transfered from Rigid's Selby and Desborough facilities, the firm said.

The Wellington plant will be supplied with corrugated sheets produced at the firm's Desborough and Selby factories.

Wellington will be able to make cases, die cut containers and multi-point glued products.
