Smurfit Kappa to close Mittpac corrugated box facility in Sweden

September 19, 2013 - 22:31

BRUSSELS, Sept. 20, 2013 (RISI) -Smurfit Kappa has started negotiations with employee representatives with the aim of shutting down its Mittpac box factory in Bräcke in northern Sweden. The move may affect 10 employees, and is being attributed to reduced volumes as a result of a decrease in demand in the area.

The discussions began on September 17, according to Smurfit Kappa Sweden CEO Claes Bjäreholt. He estimated they may last two to three weeks and did not want to comment on when the factory might be closed before the negotiations are done.

Mittpac produces standard and product-adapted corrugated boxes for customers in northern Sweden.
