Bellmer Ibérica to convert PM 1 at Smurfit Kappa's Sangüesa mill in Spain

OSCHELBRONN, Germany, May 8, 2015 (Press Release) -Against strong competition, Bellmer's subsidiary Bellmer Ibérica was awarded a major order by Smurfit Kappa Group, one of the world's leading producers of paper-based packaging solutions with production sites in 33 countries.

In Sangüesa mill, situated in the province of Navarra in the North of Spain, an ambitious project in a double-digit million category will be implemented together with Bellmer Ibérica as a strong partner: The existing PM 1, currently producing high-quality containerboard, will be converted into a new PM 4. This machine will produce, just like PM 2 und PM 3, brown, machine-glazed paper of 100 % virgin fiber. Production volume of the new machine shall be 30,000 tons of MG papers with a basis weight range between 25 and 120 g/m². These high-quality papers are used for various applications, e.g. packaging paper for food, shopping bags or gift paper.

The scope of supply of Bellmer Ibérica/of the whole Bellmer Group includes, among other things: Dismantling and refurbishing of parts to be re-used as well as their re-installation. New parts for stock approach, a new headbox TURBOVaahtoJetterTMfor first-class sheet formation, provided with dilution water control system TURBO DiluterTM. The proven Bellmer TURBOShakerTMwill improve formation quality. Due to a shoe press TURBOPressTM, performance of press section will be increased. The necessary drying cylinders for pre- and post-dryer section are also included within the scope of supply. Fur-thermore, Bellmer will deliver a TURBOReelerTMfor innovative reeling technology.

Hood, exhaust air system, heat recovery system will all be upgraded. The adjustment of the necessary electrical parts also belongs to the scope of delivery. Engineering, project management as well as training will be performed by the Spanish subsidiary Bellmer Ibérica.

Start-up of the new PM 4 is planned for the 1st quarter of 2016
