According to local reports, Carton P. Van De Velde, which specializes in multicolor offset printing and packaging board printing, would take over the plant and some 40 of the 127 workers at the site.
The acquisition would enable the Belgian packaging firm to diversify its portfolio to include packaging for the food industry. The potential buyer could restart the plant as early as the end of October, local press reports said.
In September, the Commercial Court of Lille Métropole put the VG Goossens packaging plant in liquidation, following the withdrawal of a previous offer. The firm was placed in receivership in January.
VG Goossens, which is a subsidiary of Van Genechten Packaging, produces folding boxboard for the food industry.
