German Corrugated Board Industry Association VDW and corrugated board firm Prowell conclude discussions on names given to its grades

Landau, Germany, Feb. 9, 2015 (Press Release) -The German Corrugated Board Industry Association (VDW) and the corrugated board manufacturer Prowell have resolved their differences of opinion about the names given to Prowell's grades by mutual agreement. The Progroup AG company, which is not a member of the VDW, will in future make it clear when naming its corrugated board grades that they are not the VDW grades which are given similar names in DIN 55468-1. The VDW acknowledges that there is thus no risk of confusion for consumers.

In this context, the association concedes that it did not want to give the impression that Prowell was generally claiming any comparability of its products with the technical specifications which are contained in DIN 55468-1. In addition, the VDW makes it clear that it no longer questions the strength values of Prowell's grades of corrugated board. The earlier assessment was based on measurements done in collaboration with an independent test institution. The possibility that the results may very well be interpreted in different ways can now no longer be ruled out.

"But in the future we will clarify different views through direct discussions," agree Jürgen Heindl, Chief Executive Officer of Progroup, and Dr. Oliver Wolfrum, Managing Director of the VDW.
