BRUSSELS, May 30, 2013 (PPI Europe) -The members of the German corrugated board industry association managed to raise their sales volumes both year on year and quarter on quarter in the first three months of 2013. According to the industry association Verband der Wellpappen-Industrie (VDW), more than 1.8 billion m² of corrugated board were sold in Q1, around 4% and 2.4% more than in the same period last year and in Q4 2012, respectively.
However, the VDW reported a different development when it came to sales revenues. "While paper prices increased significantly during the quarter, sales prices for corrugated board products stagnated or even decreased and created a very challenging situation for the corrugated board industry," Oliver Wolfrum, managing director of the VDW, said in a statement.
