LAUSANNE, Switzerland, Jan. 23, 2013 (Press Release) -Based in Ebersdorf near Coburg, Germany, Schumacher Packaging GmbH is one of the largest family-run manufacturers of corrugated and solid cardboard packaging solutions in Europe, and has recently awarded a bundled contract worth more than EUR 30 million to BOBST and BHS. Under the contract, lasting from December 2012 until the end of 2013, BOBST will equip Schumacher plants with two flat-bed die cutters, four folding box gluing machines, one FFG 1228 NT flexo folder gluer and various peripheral devices. The contract also includes a large number of upgrades and optimizations to the existing infrastructure. The investment initiative covers Schumacher's Polish plants and a new facility in Greven, Germany, expected to come on stream with the very latest technology in early 2014. Schumacher Packaging has installed a total of 150 BOBST machines since the 1960s. The corrugated board line in the Ebersdorf plant was already extremely efficient, but even so, Schumacher Packaging decided to boost performance even further by the end of 2012 as part of the bundled contract with BOBST and BHS. Last but not least, Schumacher Packaging will install a new, high-capacity BHS corrugated cardboard line at its corrugated cardboard plant in Bukowiec in Poland, with the chosen specification allowing for further performance increases in future.
