August Faller develops single-piece compartmented packaging box for liquid pharmaceuticals

April 09, 2013 - 21:18

WALDKIRCH, Germany, April 8, 2013 (Press Release) -

  • single-piece design
  • capacity to hold up to 20 products
  • suitability for machine filling reduces outlays of time and costs
  • Liquid and semi-solid medicines are particularly susceptible to damage during transportation. For this reason, the pharmaceuticals packaging specialist August Faller KG has included the collapsible box with integrated compartments in its programme. Recent studies show that in the future the demand for liquid drugs will account for almost one third of the global market. The single-piece compartmented packing box therefore satisfies an important need of the pharmaceutical market.

Transport security for ampoules and vials

The compartmented box, for which a patent application has been submitted, has either three or four rows of compartments and is suitable for all round drug applications. These include ampoules, vials, bottles and also cuvettes.

Up to 20 products can be accommodated in the single-piece multi-compartment pack. Previously the number of products was usually very limited. Also, the packaging consisted of two components - the folding box and a separate insert. Now a single-piece packaging solution suitable for machine filling is available, which means considerable savings of time.

    Hugely increased capacity

The three-row folding box can be fitted with up to 18 compartments. In the four-row version up to 20 compartments can be provided. The boxes can be easily set up in the customer's cartoner as the single-piece box element is pre-broken in Faller's gluing machine.
