KANSAS CITY, MO, Nov. 30, 2012 (Press Release) -Vanguard Label, Inc. is pleased to announce the acquisition of Phoenix Packaging. Both companies are Kansas City based manufacturers of spiral wound paper tubes. Historically, Vanguard Label has specialized in the production of large diameter, heavy wall tubes and cores. The acquisition allows Vanguard Label to expand into the small diameter, thin wall tube and core marketplace.
In addition to paper tubes, Vanguard Label also manufactures pressure sensitive labels and tags from blanks up to 6 color process printing.
“Phoenix Packaging and Vanguard Label were essentially covering the two ends of the paper tube size spectrum with very little overlap in the middle. This allows both companies to be much more efficient as one operation. Rich Graham and I are both excited with the synergies that come out of combining the two operations,” stated Mark Mathes, CEO and Owner of Vanguard Label.
Vanguard Label will be closing Phoenix’s current production facility and integrating their operations into Vanguard Label’s underground facility in the Hunt Midwest Subtropolis. Former Owner and President of Phoenix Packaging Rich Graham will transition to Vanguard Label, as well as most of Phoenix’s employee base. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Vanguard Label is one of three companies that comprise the Vanguard Companies. Vanguard Packaging, the largest of the three companies, designs and manufactures corrugated packaging, temporary and seasonal Point‐of‐Purchase displays, retail packaging, digital print services and Point‐of‐Sale in‐store signage. Its sister company, Advanced Logistics and Fulfillment, provides assembly, fulfillment and hand operation services for a variety of retail and industrial needs. The combined entities have approximately 130 employees and are housed in a state of the art, 500,000 square foot underground facility. Additionally, the Vanguard Companies have sales and design offices in Bentonville, Chicago and St. Louis.
