PPC adds paperboard packaging converters and suppliers to its Century Club

SPRINGFIELD, MA, June 27, 2014 (Press Release) -The Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC) recently added several new companies to its Century Club, which recognizes and celebrates paperboard packaging converters and suppliers that have been in business for 100 years or more. The most up to date list of Century Club members is as follows:

"I applaud these tenacious companies," said PPC President, Ben Markens. "It's difficult for many businesses to survive even 20 or 30 years, so 100 years of service to their customers is quite a feat."

Quite a feat indeed; PPC Century Club members have weathered two world wars, depressions, ever-changing political climates, the computer boom, and most recently, widespread offshoring and the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.

While there is no exact formula for business longevity, companies that survive a century of change must learn to adapt to economic and political upheavals as well as embrace technological advances. These companies not only pay attention to changes in their environment but they also meet challenges head on by embracing new technologies or diversifying products and services. Many long-thriving companies also have a more conservative financial strategy and make a point of developing employee talent, morale, and trust.

Despite constant evolution, long-running companies still stick to the business basics, such as an ongoing commitment to customer service. Many are also family-run companies that pass down a core set of values from generation to generation that go beyond profit. Resilient companies not only ensure future growth by forging close relationships with customers and suppliers, they also have a personal stake in the communities in which they operate.

"A Century Club member knows how to adapt to changing times," said Markens.
