FBA and AICC members meet with congressmen at Capitol Hill for the 9th Annual Corrugated Industry Fly-In

June 27, 2013 - 17:32

ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL, June 27, 2013 (Press Release) -Twenty-five members of the Fibre Box Association (FBA) and the Association of Independent Corrugated Converters (AICC) marched to Capitol Hill on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 for the 9th Annual Corrugated Industry Fly-In. Members had more than 35 meetings with Senators, Congressmen and Congresswomen to share pro-manufacturing and pro-industry messages on topics including energy efficiency, EPA regulations, tax reform, transportation and infrastructure and immigration reform.

Attendees had a morning of briefings, were addressed by Congressman Trey Radel (R-Florida), and then joined the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Summit for a luncheon and additional briefings. At 2:00 p.m., they made the march to Capitol Hill where they were well received by Congressmen, Senators and/or their legislative aides.

Conversation cards created by FBA and AICC for the event were a big hit at the Fly-In. FBA introduced these conversation cards in April at the 2013 FBA Annual Meeting. Roughly the size of coasters, the twenty cards held together on a ring, offer up several facts intended to serve as conversation starters for use across our industry. Attendees were given conversation cards for use as a resource during the meetings to educate the Congressmen and Senators about our industry. The cards were then left as a leave behind after the meetings to promote further education and action by our Congressional leaders.
