CPMC creates innovation program to boost green packaging solutions

SAO PAULO, July 13, 2021 (PPI Latin America) -Chilean pulp and paper producer CMPC announced a global open collaboration and innovation program called Savia to find sustainable packaging solutions to help overcome global challenges for the future of the industry and the planet. The program is supported by the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation of Chile and the Danish Design Centre with the collaboration of more than 10 public and private organizations in Latin America.

“With this initiative, we aim to respond with agility to the transformations that society is undergoing by developing the potential of bio-based packaging. With this vision, we decided to look ahead and seek solutions through collaboration that allow us to rely less on polluting materials and move towards a circular bioeconomy,” CMPC's Innovation and Information Officer Felipe Alcalde stated.

According to CMPC, Savia is reaching out to teams from around the world, companies, startups, institutions, developers or designers that have ready-to-implement proposals or proposals in the final development process with high scalability or commercialization potential.

Guaiba mill.  CMPC also announced it will install a new monitoring station in its Guaíba pulp mill, southern Brazil, to measure and present data on air quality. The new equipment has an estimated investment of 2 million reals ($386,000) and will be integrated with the local official air monitoring network, providing information in real-time to the monitoring and control process already performed today.
