BRUSSELS, Belgium, Jan. 9, 2020 (Fastmarkets RISI) -Metsä Board has invested Euro 20 million ($22.5 million) in modernizing the board machine finishing area at its Kyro mill in Kyroskoski, Finland.
The rebuild includes a new reeler and winder and renewal of the reel broke handling system. The new machinery is scheduled to start up during fall 2021.
“[This] will allow only a small increase in production,” Kati Sundström, vice president of investor relations, toldPPI Europe, adding that the plans are aimed at creating a platform for future development of the mill by removing bottlenecks of the finishing area.
The Kyro mill produces high-quality coated folding boxboard and the new eco-barrier paperboard. It has a production capacity of 190,000 tonnes/yr.
