MADRID, Spain, Nov. 17, 2017 (Press Release) -In partnership with its client, Polisport, the Europac Group has developed a packaging solution for children’s bicycle seats to be exported worldwide. The packaging, which adjusts to the shape of the product, brings three substantial improvements over the packaging used to date.
- In partnership with its client, Polisport, the company has developed a packaging solution for adjustable children’s bicycle seats
- The new packaging brings logistical improvements and uses less cardboard per unit produced, leading to a cost saving
- The box adjusts to the shape of the product, allowing the number of units per pallet to be increased by 29% and the number of trucks used to be reduced by 22%
- Inclusion of a handle on the top improves packaging functionality, making it easier for both clients and end consumers to carry
Firstly, it streamlines the logistical characteristics. This is a key aspect of most packaging but especially so for a product such as this aimed at the export market. Specifically, the number of product units per pallet has been raised from 26 to 36. This is a 29% improvement and leads to a corresponding cost saving.
Considering that a total of 17,136 seats were manufactured in 2016, the number of trucks used for distribution was reduced by 22%.
Furthermore, the new packaging uses fewer square metres of cardboard per unit and needs no glue for sealing. This is another cost saving. Finally, a handle has been added to the top, thereby making it easier to carry the product during production and distribution, and increasing functionality for the end client of Polisport.
Carlos Larriba, Country Manager in Spain for the Europac Packaging Division, says that “development of this new packaging solution demonstrates our desire to go that extra mile for our clients by working with them to create custom solutions that bring added value to their business, resolve problems and respond to specific needs”.
