Elopak wins WorldStar 2022 Packaging Award for its Pure-Pak Imagine carton in Packaging Materials and Components category

January 07, 2022 - 05:16

OSLO, Norway, Dec. 15, 2021 (Press Release) -Elopak has today been announced as a winner of a WorldStar 2022 Packaging Award for its Pure-Pak Imagine carton in the Packaging Materials and Components category.

One of the leading global events in packaging, the awards are run by the World Packaging Organisation (WPO). The judging process was conducted over two rounds and the online panel was composed of 36 international esteemed judges, representing 36 WPO countries members from all around the world.

“We are delighted to receive this recognition for our Pure-Pak Imagine carton, which is helping our clients to reduce their carbon footprint and communicate their commitment to sustainability. The award is testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, partners and suppliers who continue to innovate and push the boundaries of what we do so that we can provide more sustainable packaging solutions.”

CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER, PATRICK VERHELST

The Pure-Pak Imagine carton was launched in June 2020 and hit the shelves earlier this year. The carton is Elopak’s most environmentally friendly packaging to date and is a modern version to its original Pure-Pak carton designed with a new easy open feature. It is fully renewable and forest-based and contains 46% less plastic compared to a carton with a screw cap.

Among those to have rolled out the Pure-Pak Imagine carton are multinational dairy cooperative FrieslandCampina. The dairy’s iconic Campina Organic line is now available in the more environment-friendly packaging in keeping with the dairy’s ‘Nourishing a better planet’ sustainability programme. The new packaging saves 38% CO2 emissions compared to the old packaging, with the remaining emissions compensated to ensure it remains climate neutral.

Presentation of the WorldStar award is expected to take place in May 2022 during the Ipack Ima show in Milan in cooperation with the WPO local member, the Italian Packaging Institute.
