DS Smith Tecnicarton develops 'eco' solution for maritime export of dashboards

October 26, 2021 - 13:46

LONDON, Oct. 25, 2021 (Press Release) -It has been designed under the concept of 'eco-design' with 100% of the packaging made of corrugated cardboard. The most notable innovation of this design is the replacement of Velcro with cardboard tabs.

DS Smith Tecnicarton has developed an 'eco' solution for the maritime export of dashboards. It is a large packaging designed under the concept of 'eco-design' as it is composed entirely of corrugated cardboard. The most notable innovation of this design is the replacement of Velcro, an environmentally unfriendly material, with cardboard tabs that serve to fix and immobilise the side positioners for the placement and removal of the parts.

These car dashboards are shipped by sea and end up directly on the customer's assembly line. For this reason, the packaging has been designed to optimise space and fit the maximum number of dashboards, eight in total per unit. It is also designed to make the most of the inside of the sea container, giving rise to two levels of packaging. In addition, it is a vacuum folding kit that also saves space in the container and in storage.

This development does not require external elements for its assembly as it has them integrated: Pallet, lid and two half bodies and a bottom with two lateral supports as positioners.

As Antonio Cebrián, Commercial Director of DS Smith Tecnicarton, explains, "this design is the result of DS Smith Tecnicarton's commitment to the search for innovative and sustainable solutions that are fully customised and designed to meet the needs of our customers".
