Cosfibel's Grumbe Spanish factory to grow its production capacity for cardboard and R-PET

May 26, 2021 - 05:27

BOULOGNE-BILLANCOURT, France , May 25, 2021 (Press Release) -Cosfibel is pursuing its strategy in Europe with a targeted multimaterial offer. Building on plans initiated in 2019, GRUMBE’s Spanish factory is growing its production capacity for cardboard packaging. It intends, within three years, to produce equal amounts of cardboard and R-PET.

Aware of the CSR needs of its customers, notably when it comes to environmental considerations, the Spanish company is continuing its investment strategy and growing its production capacities in order to be closer to its customers.

As such, by the end of the first half of 2021, Grumbe has the following major objectives:

  • To double its semi-automatic production capacity for rigid coffrets
  • To raise its production capacity for boxes to 15 million units. The company recently invested in a new BOBST machine offering it the latest technology in cutting, folding and gluing.
  • To offer an eco-friendly alternative to plastic solutions through card and microflute cardboard chocks, guaranteed through FSC certification to be made with wood fibers from sustainable sources.

“This is an evolution, not a change in direction,” explains Maxime d’Haussy, Director of Operations for the Cosfibel Industries division. “Grumbe will continue to offer the packaging made from R-PET on which it has built its reputation and that corresponds with a market need. These packs are made with recycled (50/70/100%) and recyclable raw materials. In terms of their re-use of materials and their carbon footprint, they play a part in virtuous manufacturing. Plastic has a key role in cardboard packaging given that it allows the product to be visible.”
