BIRMINGHAM, UK, Aug. 27, 2019 (Press Release) -A simple, yet robust, order picking tray has been created for a retail customer and delivered measurable success in a variety of ways.
The picking tray, which received a gold Starpack design award at this year’s ceremony, is used in a distribution location for storing customer products on both shelving and a free- standing stacking area and facilitates order picking for online clothing and accessory sales.
“This design fulfilled a strict brief from our customer and has solved an issue that they were experiencing in terms of damage occurring to the front of the current trays they had previously been supplied,” said Paul Fishlock Managing Director Boxes and Packaging (Swindon). “By re-designing the pack so that it is fit for purpose, costs and waste have been reduced and we have demonstrated that corrugated solutions can be extremely robust and hard wearing, even in the toughest of environments.”
Creating this solution from corrugated meant that the customer did not have to return to plastic trays helping them to meet their sustainability targets. This eradicated this particular element of plastic from its business operations and meant that the new trays were easily recycled through non-specialist channels.
“Our customer was incredibly impressed with this design solution and placed a subsequent order for the same design, in a different size, to assist with other warehouse and supply chain operations,” said Paul. “We embraced all elements of the brief taking into account essential dimensions, product strength and efficient use of material. Our extensive knowledge of materials and design has once again showcased the versatility of corrugated and how adaptable it really is.”
