The VPK-managed Aquila sheetfeeding firm will build a greenfield corrugated plant in Skarbimierz near Wrocław. The facility will house a 2.8 m wide double-wall corrugator. It will be a facility identical to Aquila's sheetfeeding plant in Radomsko, in central Poland, VPK said.
The Skarbimierz plant is scheduled to start up at the end of 2015. It will boost Aquila's total capacity by 35%. According to VPK, the investment is aimed at reducing the transport distance to customers and improving the delivery service.
Aquila operates one other corrugated facility in Poland located in Września near Poznan.
VPK's second investment in Poland would see the construction of a box-making plant on the site of the Aquila Radomsko sheetfeeding facility. VPK will extend the Radomsko site to house box converting equipment for die-cut and regular corrugated packaging manufacturing. The facility will convert sheets produced at the Aquila plant. It will be operated as part of the Blue Box Partners association.
The plant is expected to come online in mid-2016. It will supply packaging to pan-European FMCG firms, VPK said.
VPK plans to start construction work on both projects in Poland in Q2.
