Thimm Group wins three awards for its point of sale innovations at POPAI D-A-CH Award 2018

June 15, 2018 - 05:07

NORTHEIM, Germany, June 15, 2018 (Press Release) -Three product solutions from Thimm are winners of the POPAI D-A-CH Award 2018. The expert jury gave the awards to a floor display for spirits, a counter display for mouthwash and a sound amplifier made from cardboard.

Michael Weber, Director of Corporate Marketing at Thimm, is delighted about the awards: “Three awards in different categories are a reflection of our sector knowledge at the point of sale. With innovations such as these we are helping our customers achieve an individual merchandising look as a differentiator.” The competition is run by the international association POPAI (Point of Purchase Advertising International) who for the eighth time awarded the POPAI D-A-CH Awards to the best point of sale solutions. The coveted trophies were presented on 14 June 2018 at a Gala in Frankfurt.

Floor display for VON HALLERS GIN from Hardenberg Wilthen AG

The winner of the Gold POPAI D-A-CH Award in the “Drinks, Tobacco” category, was the floor display for VON HALLERS GIN. The gin made by Hardenberg Wilthen AG is named after the physicist and botanist Albrecht von Haller who opened a botanical garden in Göttingen in 1736. Michael Weber explains the design: “The design of the display reflects this botanical reference. Since its introduction into retail outlets across Germany it has created an unusual showcase for the gin. Placed on the integrated layers, the bottles can be accessed from three sides by the consumer. Information about the company Hardenberg-Wilthen AG and the product with its origin and exclusivity are integrated on the back. By reproducing the bottle designs on the display, consumers recognise the perfect interplay between the product and the secondary placement.”

Counter display for mouthwashes from MEDA Pharma GmbH & Co. KG

The winner of the Gold POPAI D-A-CH Award in the “Health” category is the counter display for CB12 mouthwash solution from MEDA Pharma. The display meets the high requirements of marketing at the point of sale, stocking and shipping. “This innovative fan-shaped counter-display has several benefits,” explains Michael Weber. “The fans which are created by pushing out the base part enable the products to be viewed and removed in an expanded radius of about 220 degrees. This feature also ensures the back wall is extremely stable and this surface also displays information.” This design also hugely reduces shipping volumes as it is transported already stocked. The bottles are positioned at the top in the display making them easily accessible. The assembler uses a filling piece as a transportation support to package the displays in the associated shipping packaging. The back wall of the display is folded for shipping, thus saving transportation volumes. Small signs at the top complete the look and are used for sales promotion at the point of sale.

Cardboard sound amplifier from Lucy SAS

The cardboard smartphone sound amplifier has won the Silver Award in the “Travel, Leisure and Automotive, Sport and Play” category. The cardboard sound amplifier is based on a classic megaphone which can disseminate sound up to 110 decibels. Thimm is producing the sound amplifier for the French company Lucy SAS from 350g/m² FSC-certified solid board. It operates without electricity or batteries. When launched to market in 2017 three collections in blue, green and pink were available. Thanks to the huge sales success Lucy SAS started expanding the product with ten further designs in early 2018.
