Thanks to the non-contacting caliper measurement on both sides, measurement cannot lead to either streaks or other defects in the paper. Proven eddy current technology, combined with a patented, high-resolution optical measurement, ensure the highest precision measurement. Another crucial advantage over other solutions on the market is that mechanical inaccuracies cannot affect its precision due to the integrated position measurement. In addition, the patented multi-point measurement process permanently eliminates the effects of sheet flutter or changes in the sheet position on measurement. The sensor is also resistant to contamination, thus permitting stable measurement, even under the toughest operating conditions.
Voith LSC QuantumSens has already proven these numerous properties in practice: Test results on the test calender at Voith Paper Technology Center have shown that the readings from the sensor are fully reproducible. High precision has also been proven by comparing the measured absolute values with laboratory measurements. The sensor also works extremely reliably under real production conditions. This has been demonstrated by its installation on a paper mill for manufacturing sensitive thermal paper and also on one of the fastest newsprint facilities in the world.
