BRUSSELS, March 1, 2010 (RISI) -

Stora Enso will modernize the driving system of the two calenders on PM 8 at its Kvarnsveden mill in Borlänge, Sweden. ABB has been chosen to do the work.

Stora Enso aims to improve the unit's user friendliness and runnability through the move.

The upgrade will start on May 31 and take four days. General maintenance work on PM 8 will be done at the same time.

The cost of the investment was not revealed.

The mill has four machines. PMs 8 and 12 can produce some 515,000 tonnes/yr of uncoated mechanical paper, while PMs 10 and 11 have a capacity of around 470,000 tonnes/yr of newsprint.

PM 12 was recently restarted after a planned four day long maintenance shut down.
