STI Group to install Bobst Masterflex HD at Alsfeld converting facility in Germany

August 20, 2012 - 22:10

LAUTERBACH, Germany, Aug. 21, 2012 (Press Release) -High-quality flexo-printed packaging and displays are an important part of the STI Group portfolio. To further consolidate its market position in this product category, the STI group has invested in the latest generation of flexo post-printing presses at its Alsfeld plant. The Bobst Masterflex HD will be installed at the Alsfeld location (Hessen) in October.

With nearly an eight-figure investment in technology and infrastructure, the installation of a Bobst Masterflex HD with a print format of 2100 x 1300 mm

(8-unit format) with seven or six ink units and one coating unit will be started in October 2012.

Resource-efficient technologies and cost savings for customers

The equipment stands out for the highest print and production quality and also its resource-saving technology.

Items that are today partly implemented in pre-print can be implemented in flexo post-printing in the future with this high-performance machine, which will become operational by year end. This will reduce lead times and the costs involved in the prepress process.

Highest Print quality - hardly different from Offset printing

The Masterflex-HD from Bobst is the latest generation of high-end flexo printing presses for corrugated board and solid board using fine anilox rolls.

For the configuration of the machine, the STI group has chosen components that enable a print quality that was previously unheard of in flexo post-printing with a screen width of 65L/cm on coated outer surfaces.

Only experts can tell the difference from offset printing. The equipment also provides high sharpness of detail and depth of field for photo-realistic images. The Masterflex-HD also opens up new possibilities for printing brown outer surfaces. Finishing processes such as spot coating and thus attractive matt-gloss effects are also possible in one printing pass.

As the STI Group already has a Bobst Mastercut and a Masterflex in 8-unit format at the Alsfeld plant, a complete production line is now available for the growing market for large-sized packages, stacked trays and logistic displays, which also enables printing on the inside in one process step.
