June 01, 2013 - 19:17

BRUSSELS, May 31, 2013 (RISI) - The SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden recently acquired a 60% stake in Processum Biorefinery Initiative. Processum was founded in 2003 and has 16 employees and 21 member companies located on the east coast of northern Sweden.

The firm is engaged in wood-based biorefinery development. Most of its operations are focused on research and innovation in the areas of biotechnology, energy technology, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry and raw materials.

In the future, the company may be called SP Processum. The operations will still be led from Örnsköldsvik and the current CEO Clas Engström will continue in his role. Processum's member companies will remain important co-owners, SP said.
