LAUSANNE, Switzerland, April 30, 2010 (Press Release) -Bobst Group has announced it will hold "COMPETENCE '10," its first combined folding carton and corrugated Open House September 22 - 28, 2010 in the company's Mex facility outside Lausanne, Switzerland. The week-long event will include live demonstrations of many of Bobst's latest innovations and technologies and will feature multiple operating machines. Additionally many industry partner companies will be present and exhibiting their products.

Earlier this year Bobst re-organized its business units, combining products for folding carton, commercial printing and corrugated into what is now known as its Sheet-fed Business Unit, encompassing the BOBST, MARTIN, and ASITRADE brands. The joint open house reflects this new combination of interests and is expected to help with the exchange of ideas and techniques between the industries. As with most things within the Bobst Group, the focus is on the customers' needs and long term business success.

Several new product launches from this business unit will take place during 2010. Already available are the VISIONFOIL 104H hot foil stamper, designed with brand and product protection using holograms in mind, and the new iQ300, a 100% fault-free quality control system for corrugated post-printers.

Among other offerings COMPETENCE '10 will preview a new mid-range specialty folder-gluer for corrugated featuring an entirely new development for the automatic packing of corrugated and litho-laminated packaging. This new machine has been designed to serve a growing segment of the market which requires a large format but not the extended set of features on Bobst top end MASTERFOLD series. Also on display and operating will be new advances in "high definition" flexo printing which will make it possible for direct printers to challenge the quality and consistency of offset printing.

An upgraded Bobst ACCUBRAILLE will be introduced, providing easier compliance with European Union Braille embossing regulations. A new hot foil stamping machine which features a 20% increase in productivity and includes over 20 new patented technologies will be demonstrated, as will a new development that increases the speed of bottle carrier packaging production by 20%.
