CLOQUET, MN, Jan. 23, 2012 (Local News) -U.S. Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) made a stop at Sappi Fine Paper in Cloquet Wednesday as part of his statewide manufacturing tour. During his one-hour visit at the mill, he met with company leaders and toured a portion of the mill, which employs approximately 750 people.

The statewide tour is in support of Franken's "Back to Work Minnesota" initiative which he launched last October to boost job creation and energy savings by retrofitting public and private buildings.

Sappi officials were more than happy to inform Franken of some of the measures undertaken at the Cloquet mill to boost energy efficiency and make the manufacturing process more environmentally friendly.
