SPRINGFIELD, MA, Dec. 15, 2010 (Press Release) -On December 7-8, 2010, the Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC) hosted the Folding Carton Boot Camp workshop at PPC headquarters in Springfield, MA. Twenty-four participants and twelve speakers attended the workshop - a record attendance for this event.

Industry experts explained the packaging production process, beginning with how paperboard is made, on to inks and coatings, prepress, CAD, layout, graphics, presses, tooling, embossing, stamping, stripping, finishing, gluing, windowing, and finally, automatic packaging equipment. To honor the completion of this intensive educational program, participants were each awarded a certificate of achievement.

"We had an especially engaging and knowledgeable lineup of speakers presenting at this program," said Ben Markens, PPC President. "Our students let us know they had learned a great deal about cartonmaking basics and would recommend Folding Carton Boot Camp to others in their industry. Many also noted that this program has helped them to feel more confident discussing their products and that they'll be using this knowledge to work more efficiently."
