Kadant Johnson reports dryer rebuild order from US packaging mill

April 23, 2010 - 09:16

THREE RIVERS, MI, April 23, 2010 (Press Release) -Kadant Johnson Inc., a subsidiary of Kadant Inc., recently received an order from a specialty packaging producer located in the Midwest U.S. for paper drying system upgrades and steam-handling equipment. The energy-driven project is expected to reduce mill water usage up to 1,300 gallons per minute and save 740,000 therms of energy annually; enough to power 760 homes in the town, according to a local media report.

As part of the project justification, Kadant Johnson performed dryer studies on the machines that identified potential reductions in both energy and water consumption at the mill. Kadant Johnson will supply engineering for new steam systems, thermocompressors, and related paper drying equipment. The majority of the equipment will be installed this spring.

The mill was one of several locations to receive grant money from its state to improve energy efficiency. The grants were provided to encourage investment in energy-saving projects.
