Copac installs new corrugated box machine at SC location

August 05, 2010 - 06:06

SPARTANBURG, SC, Aug. 4, 2010 (Press Release) -Copac Global Packaging has announced the installation of a new corrugated box machine at its Spartanburg location. This addition will allow Copac to manufacture shipping cartons in a just-in-time model which is expected to improve lead times and reduce waste.

"This new machine allows us to cut down on waste and better serve our customers" says Jerry Lux, Copac CEO. "By making our corrugated cases on demand and to the exact size required, we expect to reduce the amount of corrugated used in our packing process significantly. This has the twin benefits of reducing cost and our environmental footprint."

Copac manufactures folding cartons and labels that frequently must be packed in corrugated cases for protection during shipping to customers. While Copac will still utilize outside vendors for efficient production of large volume projects, the company will utilize the new machine for the smaller projects which make up a large portion of its business mix. As a summer-long expansion project has fueled significant growth in Copac's volume, the impact of the waste reduction in corrugated will be magnified.

"Our customers are constantly pushing us to improve environmental sustainability", adds Lux. "However, the pressure to hold down costs limits many initiatives in this area. This technology does both."
