UPM estimates Fray Bentos pulp mill maintenance shutdown to last three weeks

FRAY BENTOS, Uruguay, Sept. 15, 2010 (Press Release) -The annual maintenance shutdown at UPM's Fray Bentos pulp mill in Uruguay is planned to begin 21 October and is estimated to last three weeks.

In addition to the normal annual maintenance works, super heaters in the recovery boiler will be replaced. Due to this, the maintenance shutdown is this year about one week longer than usually. The production loss of the outage is estimated to be about 70 000 tonnes.

During the maintenance period, almost 1000 additional workers will be working onsite.
