SAO PAULO, April 24, 2013 (RISI) - Voith Paper has been hired by Brazilian packaging paper producer Klabin to supply a new 110,000 tonnes recycled containerboard paper machine for its Goiana mill, in Pernambuco state, northeast Brazil.
Klabin announced the Real 300 million ($150 million) investment at the end of October 2012 and plans to use the new PM to supply fluting and testliner to the growing market in northeast Brazil.
According to Voith, Klabin's new PM 24 will be the most modern machine in the Brazilian containerboard market and should increase the Goiana mill's production to 160,000 tonnes/yr. The startup is scheduled for the second quarter of 2014.
Klabin's contract with Voith is a PLP - Process Line Package - which means that Voith will also supply the electric and mechanical packages including PM electric-mechanical assembly, commissioning and startup.
