The CTS Sheeter was selected to ensure maximum press efficiency by providing accurate, square and flat sheets to the tightest tolerance.
The customer was impressed because Apollo has established knowledge and references within the beer label production industry with both preprinted gravure printed labels and plain metalized sheets for offset printing. Rubén Darío Saavedra, production manager, said: "This new equipment will bring great benefits to our company regarding process quality and speed in the process which is controlled. The training provided by MWU was also very good; the field service technicians Chris and Martin are excellent professionals."
The machine was built in the U.K. and tested with the customers' staff prior to shipment.
Features of the machine include a special delivery section to increase the running speed and stacking quality of lightweight materials.
The machine installation was a joint effort by an Apollo U.K.-based technician and a Field Service Engineer from MarquipWardUnited Latin America. It was seen as a major benefit to have a locally based technician involved in the installation and start up so that training in Spanish was carried out and ongoing support is available.
The Apollo team will shortly install another CTS Sheeter in Cuba, proving that the Latin American customer base appreciates the technical and support benefits of purchasing from a major machinery manufacturer.
Since Apollo became part of MarquipWardUnited in 2008, sales have been brisk. Apollo machinery has been sold to mills in Germany, Korea and Egypt and to converters/printers in Syria, Spain, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Portugal. The latest Apollo model, the TSKM, has been purchased by three companies in the U.S., and further orders from Europe and Latin America are imminent.
The addition of Apollo to the MarquipWardUnited stable allows the company to offer the widest range of sheeters available in the market today. In recent times, sheeters have been sold to sheet paper as light as 24gsm and laminated board up to 4000gsm. Sheet delivery systems for folio, digital and cut size production have been supplied. In terms of versatility, one recent installation sees a customer cutting 40gsm paper, 500gsm board and single-face corrugated board all on the same machine.
Worldwide service and highly competitive pricing made possible by Lean manufacturing techniques see MarquipWardUnited going from strength to strength in today's highly competitive marketplace.
