About Zanders

Zanders was founded in 1829 by Johann Wilhelm Zanders in Bergisch Gladbach near Cologne and operated as a family business for around 150 years. Zanders gained international fame with the launch of Chromolux - one of the world's leading paper brands.

The Zanders production facility served packaging manufacturers, printers and brand owners on an international level with at last around 380 employees and a highly impressive machine park. It also served manufacturers in the food, tobacco, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries.

After the IPO, in 1980, repeated adjustments were made to the company's corporate structure. In June 2018, the company had to file for bankruptcy. Although a Scandinavian investor group took over the company on 1 December 2018, which has since been trading under the name Zanders Paper GmbH again, operations had to be shut down for good in April 2021.
